Steve Clicque - Video & Still Images
  meet Steve

My formal education is summarized and finalized with an MBA from The University of Texas, 1975.  This was an education paid for in part with my photography.  Subsequently, working as a business consultant I found myself routinely involved with many construction and development projects.  In 1990 I began to develop and restore early 20th century properties in “Old East Dallas”.  The restorations included extensive photography and video documentation of the projects.

In 1992 President George H. Bush visited my 1920’s mission revival building (a candidate for the President’s “a thousand points of light”, campaign program) reclaimed for preservation from east Dallas drug dealers and users.  The President and I spent most of our allotted 20 minutes reviewing my photos and videos of the ordeal and I received a presidential tie bar signed by George H. Bush for my efforts.  I honestly do not know if I became a point of light or already was same.  Since that time, I have pursued architectural photography and video documentation as a passion and profession. My photographs have appeared in many local publications, including The Dallas Morning News, DHome and Preservation Dallas.  Preservation Dallas recently announced “…Steve Clicque is arguably one of the best architectural photographers in Dallas”.  I am pretty sure this was complementary of my work.

Nationally, I have signed a release to allow use of my photos by the American Museum of Natural History for an exhibit.  I have not seen the exhibit and do not know if it is or was completed, but it seemed exciting and important at the time.  The Society of Architectural Historians, Historic New England, numerous websites and the Friends of Kebyar Architectural Journal, where I am Contributing Photo Editor, also publish my work.

Great American Suburbs: Homes of the Park Cities, Dallas is my first book and one that makes me proud to be a part.  From the initial concept through to publication, every person involved has given his or her finest efforts to make this an extraordinarily well-researched, well-prepared, informative, coffee table history book.  In June, 2009 the book received an AASLH Award of Merit.
